Apple Butter Bars
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2 1/2 c. Uncooked quick-cooking oats
- 5 1/2 c. Sugar
- 1 c. Butter or possibly margarine, melted
- 1 1/2 c. Apple butter
Directions
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; stir in butter. Press half of mix into a greased 13- x 9-inch pan; top with apple butter. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mix, and press gently with back of a spoon.
- Bake at 350 for 55 min or possibly till lightly browned. Cold and cut into bars.
- Makes 3 dozen.
- Notes : Freeze extras and keep on hand for after-school snacks. Select tart, green-skinned Granny Smiths for cakes and pies.
