    Ingredients

    • 1 1/4 cups flour
    • 1 stick salted butter, at room temperature
    • 1/2 tsp lemon zest
    • 1 large egg yolk
    • 1/3 cup, plus 2 tbsp sugar, divided
    • 1 tbsp milk
    • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
    • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

    Directions

    1. Heat the oven to 375 F
    2. Line and grease 9 inch square baking pan
    3. In a food processor, pulse the first four ingredients and 1/3 cup of the sugar five times or until the dough forms
    4. Press into the prepared pan
    5. Brush the dough with the milk
    6. In the food processor, pulse the almonds, cinnamon, and the remaining sugar 2 times
    7. Press into the dough
    8. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned
    9. While still warm, cut into squares
    10. Allow to cool
