Tinolang Tahong

Very easy to prepare and easy to cook. A fresh soupy dish for the family.

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo Tahong ( Mussels)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger (sliced strips)
  • Pinch of Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup of water
  • canola oil

Directions

  1. Put oil in a hot pan followed by garlic, ginger, and onion.
  2. Stir fry a bit until onions are tender and translucent.
  3. Add in Tahong. Cover for about 2 mins to release the natural flavor of Tahong then pour water.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper depending on your preference.
  5. Green chili may also be added as well as chili leaves or malunggay.
  6. Bring to a boil then turn off heat so as not to overcook Tahong.
  7. It’s cooked when the shells are opened.
