Ingredients

  • For the fish
  • 2 pieces kerisi merah/red snapper - de-gut and cut into two.
  • 2 tsp corn flour
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Other ingredients
  • 2 salted eggs - boiled, remove the yolks and gently crumbled (you
  • can also use the whites)
  • 1 red onion - chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger - chopped
  • 2 red chilies or 2 bird eye chilies - cut into pieces
  • 2 sprigs coriander leaves - shredded/chopped
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • Oil as needed
  • Pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste (use sparingly or taste before adding)

Directions

  1. Rub flour, turmeric and salt over fish.
  2. Deep fry; remove and keep aside.
  3. Leave about 2 tbsp oil in the same pan.
  4. Saute onion, ginger and chilies.
  5. Pour in oyster and soy sauce and 1/4 cup of water.
  6. (More water for more gravy)
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. When sauce thickens, add fish.
  9. Gently stir to coat fish with sauce.
  10. Off the heat.
  11. Add coriander leaves, spring onions and egg yolks.
  12. Stir again and dish out.
