Maple Butterscotch Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp maple flavoring
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • Confectioners' sugar, optional

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and the brown sugar
  2. Add the eggs, one at a time
  3. Beat well after each addition
  4. Beat in the maple flavoring
  5. Combine the flour and the baking powder
  6. Add to the egg mixture
  7. Stir in the walnuts
  8. Pour into a greased 9-inch square baking pan
  9. Bake at 350 F for 27-32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
  10. Cool
  11. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired
