Our family friends in Karachi used to invite us for dinner parties. I was fascinated with the less spiced keema they served. It's so simple but delicious that's why I came up with this recipe...

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg. ground beef
  • 1 tsp. vinegar
  • 1/4 c oil
  • 3 medium onions, sliced
  • 1/2 tbsp. garlic paste (3 cloves garlic))
  • 1/2 tbsp. ginger paste (1 cm. ginger)
  • 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp. garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. MSG
  • 3 medium potatoes, quartered
  • 1 c. water

Directions

  1. Cover ground meat with water in a pan.
  2. Add vinegar. Simmer for 30 minutes until tender and water is dried up.
  3. Brown onions in hot oil.
  4. Stir in garlic an ginger paste. Fry for 1 minute.
  5. Add tomatoes, garam masala, turmeric, chili, salt and MSG. Saute until tomatoes are mushy.
  6. Mix ground beef, potatoes and water. Simmer until potatoes are done.
