Ingredients

  • 2 c. (16 ounces) light rum
  • 4 c. apple cider
  • 1 1/4 c. cranberry juice
  • 1 1/4 c. orange juice
  • 2 x cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whl cloves
  • 1 x orange studded with cloves (optional, garnish)

Directions

  1. Place the rum, cider, cranberry and orange juices, cinnamon and cloves in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine, then lower heat and bring to a simmer. Simmer gently for 5 min. Remove from heat.
  2. Serve warm or possibly hot, keeping in a slow cooker to keep warm if necessary. Can be made in advance and refrigerated, then rewarmed before serving.
  3. Note: For a nonalcoholic version, substitute an additional c. each of cranberry and orange juice for the rum. For a cool version, refrigerateand mix with 1 qt of ginger ale.
