Curried Yogurt Crab

Crabs soaked up in thick spicy tangy gravy.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 kg crabs - cleaned and crack the claws a bit.
  • 100g yogurt
  • 1 (about 100g) onion - sliced thinly
  • 3 sprigs curry leaves
  • spices - cinnamon, cloves and star anise
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • salt to taste
  • For The Curry Paste
  • 2 tbsp plain chilly powder
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tbsp fennel powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric/kunyit powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic paste
  • Mix all together with just a bit of water.

Directions

  1. When oil is heated, saute the onion and spices.
  2. Add curry paste and fry till oils floats and aromatic. .
  3. Put in crabs,stir and combine.
  4. Cover with a lid.
  5. Once crabs are cooked, add curry leaves and yogurt.
  6. Season with salt.
  7. Stir for about 3-4mins.
  8. Remove from heat.
