Asian Noodles With Pan Seared Flank Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce plus
  • 4 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1/8 tsp dry crushed red pepper
  • 1 piece flank steak - (8 ounce)
  • 2 Tbsp. rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp oriental sesame oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp chopped peeled ginger
  • 2 x garlic cloves chopped Nonstick vegetable oil spray
  • 1 pkt fresh angel hair pasta - (9 ounce) (or possibly 9 ounce thin spaghetti)
  • 2 med carrots peeled, and cut into matchstick-size strips
  • 4 ounce fresh snow peas trimmed, and halved diagonally
  • 1/3 c. thinly-sliced green onions
  • 5 Tbsp. minced fresh cilantro

Directions

  1. Mix 1 Tbsp. soy sauce, honey and crushed red pepper in glass pie dish. Add in flank steak; turn to coat. Let stand at room temperature 1 hour or possibly chill up to 4 hrs, turning occasionally.
  2. Whisk 4 tsp. soy sauce, rice vinegar and next 4 ingredients in large bowl for dressing.
  3. Spray large nonstick skillet with nonstick spray; heat over medium heat. Add in steak and cook to desired doneness, about 5 min per side for medium-rare. Let cold 10 min.
  4. Meanwhile, cook pasta in pot of boiling salted water till almost tender. Add in carrots and peas; cook till vegetables and pasta are just tender, about 2 min. Drain.
  5. Transfer to bowl with dressing. Add in onions and 4 Tbsp. cilantro; toss. Season with salt and pepper. Thinly slice steak crosswise. Arrange steak atop pasta, spooning any juices over. Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp. cilantro.
  6. This recipe yields 4 servings.
