    Ingredients

    • 1 medium white summer squash, about 8 ” (20cm), cut in half, sliced 1/4″ thick
    • 1 medium onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 large, fresh tomato, chopped
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 2 tsp olive oil
    • 3 tbs fresh basil, chopped
    • 2oz (60gr) feta, crumbled

    Directions

I love it when the potager starts to come together!

I’m finally getting enough zucchini so we can eat all we want and still make soup for the freezer.

The slicing tomato plants are loaded, the tomatoes ripening at a good pace for eating, and the Romas are beautiful.

We eat them separately some days.

Some days we just toss it all in a skillet and add herbs, spices and feta.

I planted 3 courgette / zucchini / summer squash plants, as usual.

And, because I like variety I planted 3 colors: green, white and yellow.

We went to another Medieval Fête today.

Unfortunately it started raining as we parked and rained off and on all afternoon.

    We walked around anyway….

This is the entrance to the old part of the village where the fair was held.

It was pretty quiet while we were there…. Most of the locals were either under the covered walkways or having lunch in one of the restaurants.

    Except the kids of course.

When did a little rain stop kids?

This little boy was trying his hand at the tilting (riding a blue comparisoned horse).

For those who don’t know, tilting involves hitting a target with a lance (while on horseback). The target is on a swivel, and one is supposed to hit it squarely and avoid the weight that swings around to knock you off your horse.

Mom watched for awhile, but the little boy wasn’t quite getting the hang of it.

Finally, she put down her backpack and mounted the red horse (tube-shaped thing on her left).

She went galloping off and successfully demonstrated a flawless tilting run to the delight of her son… and the watching audience.

After that breath-taking exhibition we came across this poor young girl stretched out and tied to the ‘rack’.

At first it appeared she would be quickly and summarily executed.

At the last minute it was decided she would be tortured first.

    And not just any torture….

I don’t know what her crimes were but she was being subjected to the dreaded ‘feather’.

It was awful, watching this poor child (she was about 13) writhing and screaming on the rack while being expertly tickled with a pink feather.

It was a good thing she was tied securely…..
