Asian Grilled Salmon Recipe

Asian Grilled Salmon

Our kids' favorite salmon recipes have long been a simple lemon pepper broiled salmon and a teriyaki salmon. So we tried the combination below which combines both ingredients. It's a surprisingly delicious combination of flavors. Our oldest son, who generally turns his nose up a salmon, claimed this is the best salmon he's ever eaten and had it for leftovers again the following night. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for an easy and tasty salmon alternative.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets
  • lemon pepper to taste
  • garlic powder to taste
  • salt to taste
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Season salmon fillets with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt. My technique for this is to hold the shaker about 8-10 inches above the fish and shake gently until each side is generously covered.
  2. In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fish in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat grill for medium heat.
  4. Place salmon in a fish basket, spray oil on both sides, and place on the preheated grill. If you don't have a fish basket, lightly oil the grill and place salmon directly on the grill. Close the grill and cook salmon for 5 minutes per side, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. If you like, when you turn the fish over brush a bit of the remaining marinade on the already grilled side. This will give it additional flavor.
