  • Vietnamese Inspired Chili

    This is a work in progress. I wanted something a little different in a chili and decided to try to come up with a Vietnamese chili recipe.

    Ingredients

    • 1 lb. Ground Beef
    • 1 15.5 oz can Red Beans
    • 2 8 oz cans tomato sauce
    • 1 large Shallot, diced
    • 2 cloves Garlic, diced
    • 1T Lemongrass, minced
    • 2 T Fresh Cilantro, chopped
    • 2 T Fish Sauce
    • 1 t Five Spice powder
    • ½ t Turmeric
    • 1 T Brown Sugar
    • 1 t Black Pepper
    • 1 t Cumin
    • 1 ½ t Chili Pepper
    • 1 T Canola oil

    Directions

    1. 1. Heat oil in frying pan over medium heat.
    2. 2. Fry shallot and garlic for 2 minutes.
    3. 3. Add ground beef into same pan and brown.
    4. 4. Put everything into a crock pot on high for 2 hours.
