If you came here looking for the best and easiest tzatziki sauce recipe, boy do I have it right here!  If you pronounce it tazikis, it’s okay!  That’s how I first searched for it back in the day, too!  🙂 Whether you say tzatziki or tazikis, this recipe is super easy and very refreshing with a mixture of yogurt, cucumber, dill and lemon.  Some variations add in mint, but I like to keep it with the least amount of chopping and ingredients as possible. What is tzatziki sauce made of? Want to know a secret about me?  I do not like Greek yogurt.  Ack!  I’ve also got a MAJOR aversion to goat cheese, which for some reason I feel like the two dislikes are related.  Don’t know why.  Anyway, this tzatziki sauce recipe uses Greek yogurt, so you’ll understand now why it’s weird that I love it! The ingredients added to the Greek yogurt clearly revamp the yogurt and mask the part I don’t like, because what I taste is refreshing cucumber and dill tzatziki sauce.  It’s truly delightful, and I could eat just about anything with it. Tzatziki sauce is made of: Greek yogurt (strained yogurt) Shredded cucumbers Dill Lemon Garlic Salt and pepper, as desired How do you use tzatziki? My favorite way to use tzatziki sauce is dipping vegetables and pita bread into it.  I also love to drizzle it over grilled meat or slather onto a sandwich, gyro or burger.  Try it, trust me! You can serve tzatziki with vegetables, pita wedges, chips, salads, and more.  Place it in a dip bowl and let people decide to use it as they wish! Course: Appetizer, Dip, Sauce Cuisine: Greek, Middle Eastern Keyword: Tzatziki Sauce Recipe Ingredients 1 English cucumber 2 cups plain Greek yogurt (I recommend Chobani) 6 cloves garlic peeled and minced 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon chopped dill 1/4 teaspoon salt more or less as desired 1/4 teaspoon pepper optional Instructions Using a vegetable peeler, partially peel the cucumber so it's striped. Use a cheese grater to grate or shred the cucumber. Strain the cucumber from all liquid by squeezing it over the sink inside good paper towels or a cheesecloth. You can also just use your hands (what I do), but it takes a little longer. Strain it as much as possible! Combine the cucumbers and the rest of the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Store in the fridge for up to 1 week.
