Tourtiere Pork Pie
Ingredients
- 3 c. Mashed potatoes
- 3 lb Lean pork, grnd
- 1 c. Water
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Allspice
- 1 Tbsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- 1/2 c. Onion, minced
- Pastry for 2 (2 crust) pies
Directions
- In a saucepan, combine the grnd pork, water, nutmeg, allspice, salt, pepper and onion. Cook over moderate heat for 30 min, stirring often to prevent sticking. Remove from heat; add in the mashed potatoes; and mix well. Cold.
- Fill two pastry-lined plates;adjust top crusts, slashing pastry to allow for the steam to escape as the pies bake. Bake in a warm oven, 425 degrees F., For 40 min. Serve warm or possibly cool.
