The Best Oatmeal Cookie
Ingredients
- 1/2 c. Shortening
- 1 1/2 c. Sugar
- 2 x Large eggs
- 6 Tbsp. Molasses
- 1 3/4 c. Flour
- 1 tsp Soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 2 c. Rolled oats
- 1/2 c. Nuts
- 1 c. Raisins
Directions
- Another item from my favorite Betty Crocker 1950 cookbook. These are quick to make and rich and chewy. The old cookbook notation says a movie star made these for her daughter.
- Mix shortening, sugar, Large eggs and molasses. Add in flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in oats, nuts and raisins. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 min at 400 degrees.
