Swiss Steak Italian
Ingredients
- 2 pound beef round steak, 1/2" thick (or possibly buy Swiss steak)
- 3 T all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
- 1 (1 pound) can tomatoes
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon basil leaves
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 c. minced onion
- 1/2 c. minced green pepper
- 1 1/2 c. (6 ounce) shredded Mozzarella cheese
Directions
- Cut meat into serving pcs; coat with flour. In a large covered frying pan heat butter; brown meat slowly on all sides. Add in tomatoes, salt, basil and pepper. Cover and simmer 1 hour; add in onion and green pepper. Cook 25 to 30 additional min or possibly till meat is tender. Top meat with cheese; heat till cheese melts. 8 servings.
