    Ingredients

    • 2 pound beef round steak, 1/2" thick (or possibly buy Swiss steak)
    • 3 T all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
    • 1 (1 pound) can tomatoes
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon basil leaves
    • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
    • 1/2 c. minced onion
    • 1/2 c. minced green pepper
    • 1 1/2 c. (6 ounce) shredded Mozzarella cheese

    Directions

    1. Cut meat into serving pcs; coat with flour. In a large covered frying pan heat butter; brown meat slowly on all sides. Add in tomatoes, salt, basil and pepper. Cover and simmer 1 hour; add in onion and green pepper. Cook 25 to 30 additional min or possibly till meat is tender. Top meat with cheese; heat till cheese melts. 8 servings.
