  • Sunflower oil pie crust

    This pie crust is ideal for vegetarians AND vegans. Sunflower oil is used instead of lard. It has now become my goto pie crust recipe for all my pies.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups white flour
    • 1/2 cup sunflower oil
    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 cup water, milk or soy milk or other non-dairy milk product

    Directions

    1. In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt). Add the sunflower oil and mix well. Gradually add the water or milk until the flour is wet. Mix with your hands until the dough is smooth and all the ingredients are wet all over. Spread some flour on a clean surface. Place a ball of dough on it. Flatten the dough and flip the dough on the flour to get flour on both sides. Using a rolling pin, roll out your pie crust. Fill in and bake as usual.
    2. Makes 1 pie crust.
