These are a wonderful version of the Christmas favorite. They are lighter and fluffier version which makes them wonderful! This is given to me by a great friend Paula Sobey. It has been passed down in her family for generations from her "Great Nana".

    Ingredients

    • 4 cups flour
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 1/2 cups of Sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 1/2 cups of unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup buttermilk
    • 2 eggs

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven 350
    2. Cream together softened butter and sugar
    3. Add eggs and vanilla and buttermilk
    4. Combine all dry ingredients (flour, baking soda and salt)
    5. Chill for 24 hours in refridgerator
    6. Roll out and use them to cut out for the holiday cookies!
    7. Bake for 7-10 minutes when edges brown

Bake these at 350° F until the edges are just starting to turn golden brown! I use my nana's old cookie cutters from "Cookie Craft". You can go to their website and order some of your own and start a family tradition yourself.

My daughter Erin made these two different times and brought them home for us to taste. Yummy! They are light and fluffy!
