Stretched Beef
Thanks to our drought in the West and rising global demand the U.S.Department of Agriculture has reported the cost of beef is up 4% to an all time high of $5.06 per pound. This is a good way to stretch your ground beef and use up your fresh vegetables all at the same time! Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 slice of stale bread, crumbles
- 1 egg
- 1 cup grated vegetables, zucchini, squash, potato, mushroom, carrot or a mix of what you have.
- 2 cups of this mixture = 1 pound ground beef for a recipe
Directions
- Mix your beef up when you bring it home from the grocery and store it in the freezer in 2 cup/ 1 pound portions. The beef will be ready for any ground beef recipe.
