Strawberry Shortcake

- For shortcake:
- 2 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup oil
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 quart of fresh strawberries hulled, cored, and sliced. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar over the strawberries to sweeten .
- Optional: half and half cream
Directions
- Stir the dry ingredients together until blended.
- Mix the oil and mil and add to the dry mixture, stirring well until blended
- Divide into 4 cakes
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and bake the cakes on ungreased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes.
- Top the cakes with the sliced sweetened strawberries. If desired, serve half and half cream
