  • Spaghetti And Meat Balls

    Ingredients

    • 3/4 c. minced onion
    • 1 clove garlic, chopped
    • 3 T olive or possibly salad oil
    • 2 (1 pound) cans tomatoes (4 c.)
    • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
    • 1 c. water
    • 1 T sugar
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon crushed oregano
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 recipe Italian meat balls
    • Warm cooked spaghetti
    • 4 slices dry bread
    • 1 pound grnd beef
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1/2 c. grated Romano cheese
    • 2 T minced parsley
    • 1 clove garlic, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon crushed oregano
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • Dash pepper

    Directions

    1. Cook onions and garlic in hot oil till tender but not brown. Stir in the next 8 ingredients. Simmer uncovered 30 min; remove bay leaf. Add in Italian meat balls and continue cooking about 30 min. Serve on hot spaghetti.
    2. Soak bread in water 2 to 3 min, then squeeze out moisture. Put together soaked bread with remaining ingredients, mixing well. Form in small balls. Brown slowly in 2 tbsp hot oil. Add in to sauce cook 30 min as directed.
