  • Slow Cooked Beef Bourguignon

    Ingredients

    • 3 lb beef sirloin steak, 1/2 inch thick, trimmed and cut into 1/2 inch
    •     pcs
    • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    • 4 slc bacon, diced
    • 2 med carrots, diced
    • 8 sm new red potatoes, cut into quarters
    • 8 x to 10 mushrooms, sliced
    • 20 x to 24 fresh pearl onions
    • 3 x cloves garlic, chopped
    • 1 x bay leaf
    • 1 tsp dry marjoram
    • 1/2 tsp dry thyme
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    •     Grnd black pepper to taste
    • 2 1/2 c. Burgundy wine or possibly beef broth

    Directions

    1. Coat beef with flour, shaking off excess; set aside. Cook bacon in large skillet over medium heat till partially cooked. Add in beef; cook till browned.
    2. Remove beef and bacon with slotted spoon. Layer carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, garlic, bay leaf, marjoram, thyme, salt, pepper, beef and bacon mix, and wine (or possibly beef broth) in slow cooker. Cover and cook on Low setting 8 to 9 hrs or possibly till beef is tender. Throw away bay leaf before serving.
    3. Serves 10.
