    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup chopped shrimps (optional)
    • 1 cup ground pork (or beef/chicken)
    • 1 cup chopped singkamas or carrots (your choice)
    • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
    • 1 onion, diced well
    • 2 cloves garlic
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Wrap:
    2. 1 pack siomai/wanton wrapper
    3. oil for brushing
    4. Combine all filling ingredients in a deep bowl. Mix very well. Fill at least 2 tablespoons of the filling into wanton wrapper. Press the tips form into rounded shapes. Arrange on to a lightly greased/oiled steamer then brush each tops with oil. Bring water into a boil then put down the heat to let it simmer continously.
    5. Steam for about 30 minutes or more until done.
    6. Best served with a soysauce and calamansi with chili on the side.
    7. Great for snack, enjoy!

These sound delicious! For the sake of us westerners, what are singkamas? Are they similar to carrots? I'm going to look for calamansi with chili sauce in our asian supermarket. Hopefully they sell that here. Thanks for posting!

        Hi Nancy,
Glad you liked it. It is my version of siomai. Singkamas is 'turnip' in english :)
Also, thanks for pointing that out. I will make sure to translate any native word on my future posts. Keep checking in my recipes!
