    Shrimp Creole (Momma's Recipe)

    LOVE this one! It's not hot - so the kids should like it. It is a favorite from my childhood and still to this day. You can add heat by throwing in some peppers or your favorite hot sauce. Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 5 lbs. shrimp
    • 1 c. butter
    • 1 c. flour
    • 3 c. water
    • 4 bay leaves
    • 1 tbsp. thyme
    • 1 large onion
    • 2 large cloves garlic
    • 1 cup chopped parsley
    • 1 1/2 cup green pepper
    • salt & pepper to taste
    • 2 pts. tomatoes
    • juice of 1 lemon

    Directions

    1. Melt butter
    2. Add flour - brown lightly
    3. Add seasonings & onion, pepper,etc.
    4. Add everything else - except shrimp.
    5. When onions & bell peppers are done, add shrimp.
    6. Cook until they turn pink (3-5 minutes).
    7. Serve over rice (delish!)
