This Savory Flower Bread is soft, tender and tasty. It was made with a basic sweet bread.
From the basic bread dough, it is shaped just like a flower after proofing. You may want to make your preferred filling either sweet or savory,
I stuffed mine with egg bhurji (spicy scrambled eggs) and divided into 2. That means each portion has 8 petals. Turns into one big loaf that has 16 petals using 10 in pie plate or cake tin. Place 4 in the center, the rest around the tin.

SAVORY FLOWER BREAD RECIPE
Yield : 16
2.5 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup melted butter / oil
1.5 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
2 tablespoon sugar
3/4 cup warm milk
1 egg lightly beaten
extra flour for kneading
FILLING, Egg Bhurji
2 big onion sliced
2 tomato chopped
4 green chili chopped
1 tsp ginger and garlic minced
1 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric
1 tsp chat masala
3 tablespoon cilantro chopped
salt to taste
DIRECTIONS FOR FILLING
Heat the oil, add onion and ginger, fry until translucent. Add in tomato. When it turns soft add chili powder, turmeric, chat masala, cilantro and salt. Push the tomato mixture to the side, add some oil, break the eggs, let it set and stir. Now combine eggs and spices, mix well. Remove from heat.
DIRECTIONS FOR BREAD
Whisk flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a mixing bowl.
Heat milk in a small pan. Leave to cool slightly. it should be warm to touch.
Gradually add milk mixture, melted butter and beaten egg to the dry ingredients. Knead by hand for 10 minutes knead until smooth and elastic. or use your mixer. Add extra flour to knead the dough.
Transfer onto greased and covered bowl, let rise until double for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Divide into 16 equal balls. Shape into rounds and place 1,5 tablespoon of filling. Fold into 2. Join the two edges together and pinch to shape like a petal. Place them around the greased pan. Complete the rest of the dough.
Place onto greased 9 in cake pan. Cover with lightly greased plastic wrap, allow to rise for 1 hour. Towards the end of rising time preheat oven @ 180 C.
Lightly brush tops with milk or egg wash. .
Bake for 20 - 25 minutes until golden brown.
Transfer onto rack to cool.
