• Saucepan Brownies

    • 1/3 c. Shortening
    • 2 sqr chocolate
    • 1/2 c. Brown sugar
    • 1/2 c. White sugar
    • 2 x Large eggs
    • 2/3 c. Flour
    • 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 1 tsp Vanilla
    • 1/2 c. Minced almonds (optional)
    • 2 sqr unsweetened chocolate
    • 2 Tbsp. Butter
    • 1 c. Icing sugar
    • 1/3 c. Cream
    •     Few grains salt
    • 1 tsp Vanilla
    • 1 c. Icing sugar


    1. In saucepan, heat shortening and chocolate. Remove from heat. Add in sugar and Large eggs and beat by hand till well blended. Add in sifted dry ingrediants and beat by hand till smooth. Stir in vanilla and nuts. Place in greased 8" square pan and bake 350C 20-25 minutes. Cold (frost) then cut into squares.
    2. Chocolate Fudge Frosting:Heat together part "A". Add in part "B". Beat by hand till smooth. Place over low heat and stir till the mixtures bubbles at edges, then remove from the heat. Add in part "C". Gradually add in part "D".
    3. Beat till smooth after each addition Set in a pan of ice water and stir occasionally till it is thick sufficient to spread.
