Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup poppy seed
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 7 egg yolks
  • 1 cup egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Directions

  1. Soak poppy seeds in 3/4 cup water.
  2. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff.
  3. Sift together dry ingredients.
  4. Make a well in dry ingredients.
  5. Add oil, egg yolks, vanilla and poppy seed mixture Beat until smooth.
  6. Fold mixture into egg whites, do NOT stir.
  7. Pour into ungreased tube pan.
  8. Bake at 350 Degrees for 60-65 min.
