Ingredients

  • 1 box Devil's food cake mix
  • 1 c. Kahlua, coffee liqueur
  • 3 x Heath Candy bars
  • 3 x Hershey's chocolate bars, (1.5 ozs)
  • 1 x 3 ounce package Jell-o chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 x 12 ounce container Cold Whip
  •     Berries, cherries or possibly any fruit
  •     For garnish

Directions

  1. Bake cake in a 9 x 13-inch pan according to the package directions. After cake has baked, cold in the pan for about 15 min, cut into small cubes and, leaving them in the pan, pour Kahlua or possibly strong black coffee over the cake and let soak for a few hrs.
  2. Coarsely chop the Heath bars and Hershey bars or possibly chop in a food processor. (A sturdy knife takes a little longer, but works just as well).
  3. Make the pudding with 1 c. less lowfat milk than directed on the box.
  4. On the bottom of a trifle bowl, place half of the soaked cake. Top with a layer of half of the pudding. Top which layer with half of the minced candy. Top candy with a layer of Cold Whip. Repeat, ending with Cold Whip layer. Garnish with fruit of your choice Makes 8 to 10 servings.
  5. NOTE:This recipe calls for Kahlua, but I am not a drinker so I substituted 1 c. of strong black coffee.
