• Old Style Cabbage Rolls

    • 1 head of cabbage
    • 1/2 c. butter
    • 3 c. rice
    • 2 onions
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic
    • 2 cans tomato juice
    • salt and pepper


    1. Boil cabbage leaves in pot till tender, don't overcook. Boil rice till it's soft. In pan, heat butter, add in diced onion and garlic. Cook onion on medium heat till golden.When cabbage is ready, mix rice, butter and onions together in a big pot.
    2. Lay the leaves of cabbage one leaf at a time across your hand, then spoon rice mix onto one end of the leaf. Roll the cabbage and push in rice from the open ends. Put them in a slow cooker with a sheet of wax paper between the layers.
    3. Pour one can of tomato juice on them and let cook for 1 hour, then add in another can and let cook for another 45 min. Add in salt and pepper to taste.
