Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. Brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c. Shortening
  • 2 Tbsp. Molasses
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 whl egg
  • 3 c. Rolled oats
  • 1 c. Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 c. Nuts, minced
  • 12 ounce Semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 15 x 10 or possibly 13 x 9 inch pan. In large bowl, beat brown sugar and shortening till light and fluffy. Add in molasses, vanilla, and Large eggs; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring c.; level off. Stir in oats, four, baking soda and salt; blend well. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread in prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 min or possibly till light golden and center is set. Cold slightly; cut into bars. Serve hot or possibly cold. 48 bars.
