New York Deli Style Tuna
Ingredients
- 1 can (6 ounces) starkist solid white tuna, liquid removed and flaked
- 1 x Hard-cooked egg, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. Chopped celery
- 1 Tbsp. Minced ripe olives
- 3 Tbsp. Mayonnaise, up to 4
- 2 Tbsp. Mustard, (optional)
- 1 Tbsp. Liquid removed capers, (optional)
- 3 x New york style bagels, split
- 3 ounce Cream cheese, softened
- Baby kosher dill pickles, thinly sliced lengthwise
- Thinly sliced red onion rings
Directions
- In medium bowl, combine tuna, egg, celery, olives and mayonnaise. Stir in mustard and capers, if you like; blend well. Chill.
- To serve, toast bagels; spread each half with 1/2 oz cream cheese. Top each with 3 pickle slices, about 3 Tbsp. tuna mix and red onion rings; serve open face.
- Notes: For an authentic taste, use real New York style bagels which have a shiny crust and hard texture.
