  • Mom's Chocolate Gravy (Rachel Moore)

    Ingredients

    • 1/2-3/4 c. granulated sugar (to taste)
    • 1/3 c. Hershey's cocoa
    • 7 Tbsp. flour (or possibly Wondra)
    • 1 c. lowfat milk
    • 1 12 ounce. can evaporated lowfat milk
    • 1 egg
    • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Directions

    1. Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, egg and a bit of the lowfat milk in a separate bowl. Set aside.
    2. In a pan sprayed with Pam, heat the lowfat milk till hot. Turn on medium heat. Transfer the flour and egg mix to the saucepan.
    3. Keep stirring as it thickens, so it will not stick or possibly burn; reduce heat as necessary.
    4. When it reaches a pudding-like consistency, remove from heat.
    5. Stir in vanilla.
    6. Gravy thickens slightly when removed from heat.
    7. This is best prepared using an electric mixer or possibly hand blender to help avoid any lumps.
    8. Yummy with biscuits!
