    LOTS OF CHEDDAR CHEESE INSIDE AND ON TOP MAKE THIS A DELICIOUS, CREAMY MACARONI AND CHEESE. SERVE THIS CASSEROLE AS A MAIN DISH WITH A SALAD OF SERVE IT AS A SIDE DISH.

    Ingredients

    • 12 OUNCES MACARONI
    • 4 TABLESPOONS BUTTER
    • 1/4 CUP ORGANIC WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR
    • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
    • 1/8 TEASPOON ORGANIC GROUND BLACK PEPPER
    • 1 CUP ORGANIC LIGHT CREAM
    • 1 CUP ORGANIC MILK
    • 1 TEASPOON ORGANIC DIJON MUSTARD
    • 4 CUPS ORGANIC CHEDDAR CHEESE, SHREDDED
    • 1 CUP ORGANIC SOFT BREAD CRUMBS, TOSSED WITH 1 1/2 TABLESPOONS MELTED BUTTER.

    Directions

    1. HEAT OVEN TO 375 DEGREES. GREASE A 2 QUART WHITE SQUARE GLASS BAKING DISH.
    2. COOK MACARONI IN BOILING, SALTED WATER FOLLOWING PACKAGE DIRECTIONS. DRAIN IN A COLANDER AND RINSE WITH HOT WATER.
    3. IN A MEDIUM SAUCEPAN, MELT THE BUTTER OVER MEDIUM HEAT.
    4. GRADUALLY ADD THE 1/4 CUP ORGANIC WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR, STIRRING CONTINUALLY AS IT THICKENS.
    5. ADD THE SALT, PEPPER, AND LIGHT CREAM, CONTINUING TO STIR AS IT THICKENS AND BEGIN ADDING THE MILK, DIJON MUSTARD AND TWO CUPS OF CHEESE.
    6. CONTINUE COOKING, STIRRING UNTIL CHEESE IS MELTED.
    7. COMBINE SAUCE MIXTURE WITH THE DRAINED MACARONI.
    8. SPOON INTO PREPARED BAKING DISH AND TOP WITH THE REMAINING 2 CUPS OF SHREDDED CHEESE.
    9. SCATTER THE BUTTERED BREAD CRUMBS EVENLY OVER THE CHEESE LAYER.
    10. BAKE FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES, UNTIL LIGHTLY BROWNED AND BUBBLY.
