This recipe won Best of Show at the Medina County Fair, 2010, Hondo, TX When I made this for the fair entry there were a few pieces left over. My husband immediately ate them and then offered to buy me a new Cadillac if I would make him more. I did but have yet to see the Cadillac.

    Ingredients

    • Butter a cookie sheet and set aside.
    • Break a large Hershey Bar into small pieces and set aside.
    • In a heavy skillet place:
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 2 sticks butter (use butter)
    • 1 cup sliced almonds
    • 1 Tbls. white Karo syrup
    • 1 Tbls. water

    Directions

    1. Cook on medium high heat, stirring constantly for about 6 minutes. You may cook it longer if you want a darker toffee.
    2. Immediately pour onto buttered cookie sheet, using a knife to spread to desired thickness. Immediately, working quickly, drop the small pieces of the Giant Hershey bar over the toffee and spread as it melts to cover the toffee.

Wow, this looks decadent and yummy Linda! Any recipe that wins best of show in a county fair has to be good....and I'm a huge toffee fan anyway. Thanks for sharing!
