Kassler and Douphinoise Potato Bake

- 4 Kassler chops
- 4 potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely chopped
- 180g strong cheese such as matured cheddar
- 250ml fresh cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons mustard of your choice (Dijon,Hot English,Wholegrain)
Directions
- For the potato bake, sprinkle an oven dish with half the chopped garlic and spoon in half the butter
- Place a layer of potato, sprinkle with the rest of the garlic, salt, pepper, the mustard and half the cheese.
- Repeat with another layer of potatoes and cheese.
- Pour over the cream, and then top with the rest of the cheese and butter.
- Place the dish in an oven pre-heated to 180 degrees Celsius and bake for about 45 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through.
- Now for the chops. In a lightly oiled or buttered frying pan fry the chops over medium heat for about two minutes, turn and repeat then remove from heat and cover.
