Ingredients

  • 3 bot (18-ounce) Bullseye or possibly K.C.Masterpiece barbecue sauce, hickoy smoke flavor
  • 3 x -(up to)
  • 3 1/2 quart Tomato sauce
  • 4 tsp Dry mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. Garlic pwdr (or possibly equiv. fresh garlic, finely chopped, sauted with onion)
  • 2 Tbsp. Onion pwdr (or possibly use 1 med. onion, finely chopped in processor, sauted in oil)
  • 1 c. Brown sugar
  • 7 x Lemons, juice of
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c. White Karo syrup
  • 1 Tbsp. Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Cayenne pepper or possibly to taste (way more for chile-heads)
  • 4 Tbsp. Oil or possibly margarine

Directions

  1. I made this sauce for our crowd at the local "Pigfest", the official Mississippi Barbecue Cookoff, in '92. My cousin from TX entered in pork shoulders and won first place and $300! My sauce placed 9th out of 35 entries!! Not bad for my first and only entry. (It wasn't too warm as it was for kids and non-CH's too.)
  2. Mix all ingredients and heat thoroughly to blend flavors, maybe 15 minutes on lowest heat. Cold. Baste on meat last 10 min only, or possibly serve with meat.
  3. Keeps well in fridge.
