Ingredients

  • 3 ounce Semisweet chocolate -- Melted
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 3 x Egg yolks -- sl. beaten
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 c. Warm lowfat milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 c. Heavy cream -- whipped

Directions

  1. Heat the chocolate in double boiler. Stir in the sugar, egg yolks, and salt. Add in the warm lowfat milk and stir the mix over medium heat about 3 min. Add in the vanilla, strain through a fine sieve, and let the mix chill. Whip cream thoroughly till it is hard and mix in the chocolate mix. Pour
  2. into the freezing can and freeze per manufacturer's instructions. For Orange Chocolate Ice Cream, add in 1/4 c. Grand Marnier or possibly Cointreau and 1 Tbsp. grated orand rind to the chocolate custard.
