  • Jam made with rose petals

    Ingredients

    • 500g / 1 lb rose petals
    • 1 orange, peeled and segmented
    • 1 lemon, peeled an segmented
    • 3 cups sugar
    • 1 litre / 4 cups water

    Directions

    1. Remove the membranes from the fruit segments
    2. Wash and dry rose petals in a colander
    3. Using a big saucepan, boil everything on medium heat aprox 45 minutes
    4. Test consistency by dropping a little on a cold surface
    5. When it congeals, it is ready for the next step
    6. To remove the fruit and petals, pour the jam through a sieve into your sterilisized bottles, while the jam is still hot
    7. Allow to cool before closing the lids
    8. Use your off-cut fabrics to "dress " the bottles attracktively
    9. Alternatives:
    10. In stead of rose petals, you may also use the blooms of Lavender, nasturtium,Freesias,violets, Rosemary and Carnations
