Indian Tacos
Ingredients
- Indian Fry Bread (recipe follows)
- Pinto beans, cooked to very soft stage
- Chili (any canned or possibly your own recipe)
- Shredded lettuce
- Minced onions
- Minced tomatoes
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Taco or possibly picante sauce
- 6 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 2 1/2 c. hot water
Directions
- Place a piece of fry bread on a plate. Layer the remaining ingredients as listed.The dessert for the meal is another piece of fry bread with honey on the side.
- Make a well in the flour and pour buttermilk and water in. Start a circular motion with your finger, pulling flour into liquid till you have a sticky dough. Knead in all the flour. Apply a small amount of veg. oil to the top of the dough to prevent drying and let the dough rest and rise for a couple of hrs.
