Holiday Chocolate Mash Potato Cake
A DeWitt Family Tradition From My Grandmother Bertha DeWitt's recipes This cake has been made for generations in my family. Every holiday we make one of these chocolate spice cakes. My children make them now. Ingredients
- Cream together well:
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- Stir in and mix well:
- 4 eggs beaten
- Then add:
- 1 cup Ghirardelli Chocolate (ground)
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp allspice
- Then add and mix well:
- 1 cup mashed potatoes (hot or warm)
- ½ cup milk
- Optional additions (1 cup): chopped nuts and or raisins, chocolate chips
- Pour into greased bundt pan
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes.
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350.
