Healthy Spicy Chickpea Snack

Ingredients

  • 2 (15 ozs) can chickpeas or garbanzo beans
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper or chipotle (or to taste)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • For variation, try adding one of more of these spices:
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric (Optional)
  • 1/4 tsp curry powder (Optional)
  • Pinch of cumin (Optional)

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F. Rinse and drain the chickpeas and pat dry in a clean kitchen towel. Place in a large bowl. Add the spices and mix or toss gently so you do not break the delicate chickpeas. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread them out in a single layer. Bake until golden and crisp about 30 to 35 minutes. Shake the tray after 15 minutes to crips uniformly. When ready, transfer to a serving bowl. Maybe eaten hot, warm or cold.
