  • Ham And Potato Casserole

    Ingredients

    • Ham, cut up in pcs Potatoes, peeled and sliced fairly thin (may leave peelings on if you like ) Onions, peeled and sliced fairly thin (I use lots of these, because I like them )
    • 2 Tbsp. butter
    • 2 Tbsp. flour
    • 1 c. lowfat milk salt (not much, remember the ham) & pepper

    Directions

    1. Make layers in casserole dish of potato, onion, ham, and repeat till ingredients used up, but not too near top of dish, because you'll want room for the sauce :Basic White Sauce
    2. Heat butter, stir in flour till smooth. Slowly add in lowfat milk, stirring and stirring - whisks are handy here - till smooth. Cook on medium heat till thick, simmering and stirring, about 5 - 6 min. Pour sauce over potatoes & ham, lifting with spoon or possibly fork to let it flow between layers, and bake at 350 degrees F. till potatoes are tender, approx. 30 min to an hour, depending on shape and size of casserole. Serve with salad and enjoy. If sauce is too thick for reheating well, just add in a little lowfat milk.
