    Ingredients

    • 2 x flank steaks - (abt 1 1/4 lbs ea)
    • 1/2 c. soy sauce
    • 1/2 c. plum sauce
    • 1/2 c. pineapple juice
    • 1/2 c. ketchup
    • 1/4 c. finely-sliced scallions
    • 3 Tbsp. minced cilantro
    • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh ginger
    • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh garlic

    Directions

    1. Combine all marinade ingredients. Mix well.
    2. Place flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and add in marinade. Chill for 3 to 6 hrs, turning occasionally to distribute marinade.
    3. Remove flank steak from the marinade. Reserve marinade. Place steak in center of cooking grate and grill for 15 to 20 min, or possibly till desired doneness, turning once halfway through grilling time. Occasionally brush lightly with remaining marinade while grilling. Remove steak when done and hold in a hot place for 5 to 7 min. Slice thinly on the bias for serving.
    4. Meanwhile, bring remaining marinade to a boil and simmer rapidly for 5 min. Serve with steak.
    5. This recipe yields 6 servings.
    6. Wine Recommendation: To celebrate the steak's grilled earthiness and the marinade's smoked fruit flavors, try a Pinot Noir from Oregon's Willamette Valley.
    7. Beer Recommendation: Pale Ale - with its assertive flavor profile, hoppy finish, and citrus overtones - is our brew of choice for this complex grilled beef dish.
    8. Comments: The marinade in this recipe adds tenderness and special flavor to a popular cut of beef. Just add in steamed rice with black sesame seeds, some green beans, and you have an easy, delicious dinner!
