  • Green Chicken ( Murg Hariyali )

    Ingredients

    • 300 ml lowfat yoghurt
    • 300 gm mint leaves
    • 300 gm coriander leaves
    • 2 tsp ginger minced
    • 2 tsp garlic minced
    • 1 tsp green chillics minced
    • 1 tsp turmeric pwdr salt
    • 8 lrg chicken drumsticks
    • 6 Tbsp. sunflower oil
    • 6 x cloves
    • 10 x black peppercorns
    • 4 x cm stick cinnamon
    • 6 x cardamom
    • 2 lrg onions sliced finely
    • 2 Tbsp. flaked almonds
    • 1 tsp dry mint pwdr

    Directions

    1. Grind all the marinade ingredients in a blender till smooth and creamy.
    2. Then marinate the chicken for 30 min.
    3. Heat the oil in a pan and add in the cloves peppercorns cinnamon and cardamom.
    4. Fry for a minute.
    5. Add in the onions.
    6. Fry till translucent/soft then the chicken and fry till slightly brown.
    7. Add in any remaining marinade cover and cook on a low heat till the chicken is tender Serve warm sprinkled with almonds and dry mint pwdr.
    8. The mint adds freshness and makes a refreshing change from the rich red curries which are normally served in indian restaurants.
    9. Serves 4
