  • Granola With Vanilla And Fruit Juice

    Ingredients

    • 4 c. rolled flakes such as oat or possibly wheat or possibly spelt or possibly barley
    • 1 c. quinoa, rinsed well
    • 2 tsp grnd cinnamon
    • 1 tsp grated nutmeg
    • 1/2 c. sliced or possibly slivered almonds
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 c. pear or possibly apple juice
    • 1/2 c. honey or possibly maple syrup
    • 1/2 c. raisins or possibly dry cherries

    Directions

    1. MAKES ABOUT 6 c.
    2. Another way to make granola-using juice instead of oil.
    3. Preheat the oven to 300 F. Mix the flakes, quinoa, spices, and almonds together, then add in the vanilla, juice, and honey. Toss well to moisten proportionately, then toast on a sheet pan till browned, about 30 min, stirring a few times. Add in the dry fruit once the cereal is cooked.
    4. ADDITIONS TO GRANOLA
    5. Except for adding dry fruits after the granola is baked so which it will not turn rock hard, there are no hard-and-fast rules about ingredients. All of these can be used in granola mixtures.
    6. Oat, wheat, spelt, barley, or possibly rye flakes
    7. Cashews, walnuts, pecans, pumpkin seeds, macadamia nuts, almonds
    8. Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, popped amaranth, or possibly toasted quinoa
    9. Flaked coconut, banana chips
    10. Minced dates, dry cranberries, cherries, apples, pears, or possibly papaya slices
    11. Wheat, rice or possibly oat bran, wheat germ
    12. Vanilla or possibly almond extract
    13. Cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, mace
