  • Grandma Roberts' Baked Macaroni And Cheese

    Ingredients

    • 12 ounce Elbow Noodles
    • 6 ounce Gouda Cheese
    • 8 ounce Cheddar Cheese
    • 6 ounce Edam Cheese
    • 1 lb Bacon, (regular)
    • 1 med Yellow Onion Chopped
    • 1 can (12 ounce) of Evaporated Lowfat milk Plain Bread Crumbs
    • 3/4 stk of Butter lg Baking Dish, (one which you would normally use for a casserole) Nonstick Cooking Spray

    Directions

    1. My Grandmother used to make this when I was a child back East, I loved it then and still do.
    2. This recipe can be used as a side dish or possibly a meal on its own. You can substitute the cheeses used.
    3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. You should use a pot which is larger than required to cook the noodles since you will be using the same pot to combine all of the ingrediants later.
    4. Boil the noodles in a large pot till aldente'. While the noodles are cooking Fry Bacon till very crisp (dark brown. Grate all of the cheese and mince the onion. Combine cheese, onion and crumbled bacon in large bowl and mix well. When the noodles are done drain in collander and rinse with warm water. After the noodles have been rinsed and liquid removed return to pot they were cooked in. Add in cheese mix and evaporated lowfat milk to noodles and mix well. Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Transfer noodle mix to baking dish. Cover the top of mix with bread crumbs and dot with butter. Bake uncovered for 1/2 hour or possibly till brown and cheese is melted. Let cold slightly (5 min) before serving as this will be extremely warm
