Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp ground ginger

Directions

  1. Grease a 9 x 9 inch square baking pan.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 F.
  3. Beat butter with molasses until mixture is creamy and color lightens slightly.
  4. Stir in sour cream.
  5. Beat in eggs.
  6. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and ginger in a separate bowl.
  7. Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture; mix well.
  8. Pour mixture into prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool. Cut into squares.
