Fried Fish Batter
Ingredients
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black pepper
- 1 c. Cornmeal
- 1 Tbsp. Sherry or possibly brandy (optional)
- 1 jar prepared mustard
Directions
- Fish (Steaks, fillets or possibly whole) Oil for frying.
- Heat oil till it pops when sprinkled with a drop of water. Pat fish dry, then brush with mustard, (mixed with sherry or possibly brandy if you like). Sift cornmeal, salt and pepper into bag. Add in 2 or possibly 3 steaks or possibly fillets, or possibly 1 whole fish; close and shake. Drop fish carefully into warm oil; fry till lightly browned. Drain well on paper. Keep fish hot and crisp in a closed paper sack.
- Try fresh potatoes fried with the same batter. Tastes great!!
