  • Fried Chicken Wings

    Ingredients

    • 10 x Chicken wings
    • 1 1/2 tsp Finely chopped ginger root
    • 1 tsp Lemon juice
    • 1/2 c. Flour
    • 1 c. Vegetable oil
    • 1/2 tsp Grnd tumeric
    • 1 1/2 tsp Finely chopped garlic
    • 1 tsp Water
    • 1/2 tsp Salt

    Directions

    1. Remove wing tips and reserve for the soup pot. Cut each wing in half at the joint. In a mixing bowl combine the wings and other ingredients except the oil. Mix, cover and chill 3 hours. In a large, deep pan heat the oil, add in wings and fry till golden on both sides- 12 minutes total.

      I tried this recipe, as compared to the "battery" and floury recipes I had seen all over the place. I came from New England, and these wings were the closest thing to the take out and restaurants I remember. As written, they were great. I did up the ginger and garlic a bit, and used some soy sauce in place of the salt (and deep fried, too), and I was amazed. The nutritional information accompanying this must assume you will drink the oil, besides being completely OFF. After weighing, the oil was less than 2 grams per piece. Thanks for giving everyone a great recipe.
