  • THE MEATBALLS:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 ounces (1/2 cup) shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • THE SAUCE:
  • 2 TBSP unsalted butter
  • 1 TBSP olive oil
  • 2 pounds (3 to 4 large) yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • salt & pepper
  • 2 TBSP cooking sherry
  • 1 cup water
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
